My name is Addie Brown. I was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and raised in Harlem, NY. Comedy and acting has always been a passion of mine. I love to laugh and tell funny stories. Over the years, I have realized that I enjoy inspiring others to laugh even more. Making people laugh is a part of my everyday life, so it only makes sense that I’ve decided to make it my career. Finding my path to comedy has taken me on many different career paths and twenty jobs later, I realize that I missed my calling. They say timing is everything and during my last career change I became a security officer at The View where I gave announcements to two hundred audience members daily. I was always told by many audience members that I was funny and have a natural presence, especially for the stage. I decided to audition with an Improv group called Sister Girl TV. As the chapter of Sister Girl TV ended, I began to do stand-up comedy. The first time I was on stage, I felt alive as if this is what my life has been missing. This is how it all worked for me. I’m attending The Stella Adler Acting Studio because of a question I asked Whoopi Goldberg. I’m currently writing comedy, novels and performing at Caroline’s, Broadway Comedy Club and Private Events just to name a few . Please join me in my journey and most of all, enjoy!!

Beginning with modeling and a litany of theater productions, including Love Creek Theater Group in NYC, she made the natural transition to stand-up comedy a year and half ago after realizing that all of the roles she landed in theater were comedic. Currently a writer and performer in Columbia University’s sketch comedy group, Chowdah, Emerald is thrilled to be a member of the Brown Girl Comedy team.
